A setback shouldn’t define your chances.
If you’re employed and your credit history isn’t perfect, we’ll look at what happened, where you are now and whether the loan is affordable.
Existing members: up to £3,000 · New members: up to £2,500
At a glance
A personal loan for employed people whose credit history may need a little more context.
Our Standard Loan is for employed people who can afford to borrow but may have had genuine issues that affected their credit history. We look at the application as a whole, including what happened, where you are now and whether the repayments are affordable.
In plain English
What is it?
A personal loan for employed people who may not have a perfect credit history but can show that borrowing is affordable.
What does it do?
It gives existing members access to up to £3,000 and new members up to £2,500, subject to affordability and our lending criteria.
Why have it?
Because a past setback does not always tell us where you are now. We look at the circumstances behind your credit history and assess the application on its own merits rather than relying on a score alone.
Sometimes there’s a reason your credit history isn’t perfect.
A difficult period can leave a mark on your credit file long after your circumstances have changed. You may have missed payments during a temporary financial squeeze, relied heavily on credit for a while or had another genuine setback. That can make it harder to get a mainstream personal loan, even when you are now employed and managing your money more comfortably.
Something happened
Your credit file may reflect a particular period rather than the way you normally manage money. We can consider the circumstances behind missed payments or other historic credit problems instead of treating the record on its own.
Things may have moved on
What matters is not only that a problem appears on your credit history, but when it happened, whether it has been resolved and what your finances look like today.
We look at the whole picture
We consider your employment income, regular spending, existing commitments, recent account conduct and credit history together. The decision is based on whether the loan makes sense and is affordable for you now.
This is the difference. We do not ignore your credit history, and we do not promise to lend because you have had problems in the past. We give you the opportunity for those problems to be understood in context before a decision is made.

Here is a simple example based on borrowing £2,000 over 36 months. Your actual repayment will depend on the amount, term and rate offered.
